Beginning (India, Post 1)

These first two weeks in India have been packed so full and we are always tired but content. Already we have such dear friends we work with and are feeling confident navigating the busses to get around town. ;)

We work in a couple of different areas, some nicer and some slums. Both are full of people welcoming and kind. It’s easy to see down to the heart here.

Some of the areas we work put on christmas celebrations and one in particular was a favorite of mine. Around 400-500 people saw the program and the kids were all so proud of all the hard work they put into the dances and skit.

A couple of weeks ago we went to a spice plantation to tour, eat lunch, and ride an elephant. That is one of the more touristy events we've done, and well worth the long drive (the views of small towns, temples, rice patties, and a ferry ride across a river made it more interesting to say the least ;)).

One family in particular welcomed us so widely upon our arrival and we were fast friends. They invited us to little M’s 1st birthday party and it was such a treat to be there with their family. It was the biggest 1st birthday party I had ever attended!

“Calm mid the bewildering cry,
Confident of victory.”
